Government procurement: unions to demand Australian goods price advantage

The ACTU's three-day national congress is in progress in Brisbane where official, recession-driven policy proposals will be rubber-stamped. The ACTU will demand a halt to all further free trade agreement negotiations until the recession is over and the shape of the post-crisis world has become clear.
The unions will also demand a 25 per cent price advantage for Australian goods over foreign products when it comes to government procurement, meaning an Australian product should still be favoured even if 25 per cent more expensive than a foreign counterpart.
