Australian agribusiness to improve supply chain process

Major players in Australia’s agribusiness sector have joined forces to improve supply chain processes and services, using GS1 global standards. Key suppliers and retailers including the likes of Landmark, Elders, Nufarm, Incitec Pivot, Ridley AgriProducts and Pfizer have formed an industry working group, the Agribusiness GS1 Standards Group (AGSG). The group is working with GS1 Australia to set guidelines for the implementation standards as product identification, automatic data capture, electronic messaging and product classification.

“Bar coding is our number one focus,” says AGSG steering committee Chair Andrew Pollard of Landmark.
“This will enable greater data accuracy, enable technologies such as POS and warehouse management systems, and will become the single product identifier for all parties in the supply chain.
