Potential Australia and US Defence treaty to reduce procurement deficiencies

The Australian government has launched a second round of consultations with defence industry companies in the most recent step towards finalising the US trade cooperation treaty, which is aimed at reducing defence procurement deficiencies.

The consultations which began in 2007 between former Prime Minister John Howard and former US President George Bush were to free up Australian access to American defence technology.
