Betsy Harrington to join The Faculty as CEO25 Feb 2011Global procurement senior executive, Betsy Harrington, will join The Faculty as Chief Executive Officer on April 11th 2011. Betsy’s experience as a chief procurement officer and in senior leadership roles within global organisations will enable her to provide invaluable insights to our clients and our team,” said The Faculty’s Founding Chairman, Tania Seary. Betsy commented, “I have been an observer and supporter of The Faculty for the last ten years. I am excited to now be in a position where I can join the team and play an active role in sharing my knowledge and experience with clients and the talented people who work for the company.” Betsy’s experience spans some of the world’s leading organisations. Her most recent role was as Head of Operations & Project Implementation for the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction & Recovery Authority. She joined the Authority in March 2009 as a loaned executive from BHP Billiton. Reporting to the CEO, she was responsible for all operational activity, planning, environment and reconstruction programs related to the 2009 bushfires that impacted over 100 communities in Victoria. Betsy joined BHP Billiton in 2003 as Vice President Global Supply. In this assignment she was responsible for purchases exceeding $15 billion. In late 2006, Betsy was appointed by BHP Billiton’s CEO to lead a review of all BHP Billiton centre activities with the aim to improve clarity of accountabilities across the organisation. Following that assignment, Betsy was appointed to the core mergers & acquisitions leadership team responsible for managing the Rio Tinto offer. Prior to joining BHP Billiton, Betsy served in senior leadership positions in procurement, materials management, sales & marketing, manufacturing systems and human resources with Alcoa & Honeywell. Her experience prior to joining BHP Billiton includes assignments in industry groups including electronics, automotive, resources and telecommunications. As part of this expansion to the leadership team, Michael Kirk will take on responsibility for The Faculty’s Consulting offering. Ends. |
