Australian live cattle supply chain still lagging

Australia’s biggest exporter of live cattle to Indonesia claims the supply chain that carries the stock to Indonesian customers will take several months to return to normal, despite the ban on the trade having been lifted by the federal government.

Australian Agricultural Company chief executive David Farley said yesterday that despite the lifting of the ban, imposed after public outrage over the mistreatment of cattle in Indonesia, the trade would not return to its previous levels of 15,000 beasts a week until "sometime before Christmas".
