Cayman Islands official blasts UK govt procurement practices

The management of contracting and purchasing of supplies in the British territory of the Cayman Islands is likely to be wasting millions of dollars, the UK territory’s auditor general said.

Political interference and shabby management of procurement practices are also damaging the credibility of the Cayman Islands with suppliers.

Auditor General Alastair Swarbrick found instances of some politicians interfering in the procurement process and reported that "significant risks of abuse, mismanagement, fraud and corruption may result".
