Optimising the supply chain - the Skellerup experience
Join James Makoni, Supply Chain Manager, as he steps through the development of the Skellerup supply chain, observing the challenges, lessons, and opportunities that occurred along the way.

James has more than a decade of experience in global supply chain management at two iconic New Zealand companies - Carter Holt Harvey and Skellerup. Skellerup is both a manufacturing and trading company. As such, James has particular expertise in sales and operations planning, manufacturing planning, procurement, international shipping, warehousing & distribution and, enterprise systems (SAP & JDE) implementation and support. He has a BSc from the University of Zimbabwe and a MSc from University of Canterbury.

Strategic supply chain management within a distribution organisation
Many topics and articles in supply chain management deal with optimising the supply chain of manufacturers, however distribution business have their own unique inventory and logistics issues that need overcoming. Richard Olds, Supply Chain Consultant, will present an overview of the challenges a supply chain manager in a distribution business faces, and provide guidance on the tools and techniques available to overcome them.

Richard is currently providing an independent supply chain consulting service. Former roles have included the Supply Chain Manager for Crane Distribution NZ Ltd, the organisation behind the plumbing, electrical and safety trade distributor brands of Mico, Mastertrade and Cory’s. Crane Distribution NZ Ltd has a turnover of in excess of $400 million, 110,000 product lines and in excess of 3000 suppliers. Richard has a PBCom, GDipMgt and CertSCLM from Monash University in Melbourne.
