First 2010 Christchurch CIPSA event a success17 Mar 2010The CIPSA regional committee in Christchurch, New Zealand, was delighted with the turnout for their first 2010 event on Thursday February 11th at the Christchurch Art Gallery. Those attending were entertained firstly by Chris Browne, Project Manager for the Government Procurement Development Group, who had flown down from Wellington to provide an overview of the strategies planned by the Government to manage their expenditure, the numbers involved, and the intricacies of consolidating such a spend. Chris also confirmed that MCIPS is now on the Department of Labour’s skill shortage list. Bruce Gordon, Group General Manager Corporate Services for PGG Wrightson then presented a case study on moving a traditional rural company towards a centralised and strategic procurement spend. He gave an outline of the challenges faced by PGG Wrightson and how they successfully educated and involved staff who had not initially been on board with their vision. Feedback from attendees was that both speakers were excellent caliber, and that the insights they had shared were of real value. |
