State-owned Chinese companies frustrated with delays in Australian projects

BHP Billiton Ltd Chief Executive Marius Kloppers has said that state-owned Chinese companies, that want to move quickly to bolster global supplies in response to high prices, are becoming increasingly frustrated with delays in commissioning projects in Australia.

According to a report in The Australian, these companies believe there are unrealistic timeline expectations on such projects. 

The delays are part of the situation that has prevented mining investments from adding suppliers to global markets and reigning in international commodity prices, many of which are at record levels.

The issue was  a pressing point throughout Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s recently completed Asian tour.
The report from The Australian also stated that the state-owned Chinese companies saw the Australian government regulatory environment as an impediment.
