Changes to New Zealand Procurement Reform leadership
29 Nov 2010
Following on from Phil Weir’s resignation as Manager of the Government Procurement Development Group (GPDG), Chris Brown has been appointed Acting Manager, GPDG from 29 November.
Already a part of the Reform team, Chris has 22 years’ experience in government procurement at an international, country and agency level. His background is in change management, construction and engineering procurement, with a specialty in sustainability. He has been the lead technical advisor for the last 5 years to the United Nations Task Force on sustainable procurement.
Murray Heyrick, of NZ Post will join the team in mid January as Manager, Procurement Policy & Development. Murray will be leading the government wide procurement policy and capability building activities including the New Zealand Procurement Academy. Further changes to the team include Greg Patchell as the new Deputy Secretary.
In addition to staff changes the GPDG has also had a name change. It is now called Government Procurement Solutions and has moved within MED’s structure reflecting the importance that MED places on procurement as an enabler and the Reform as a priority project for Government.
