CIPSA Conferences announces programme of Special Interest Forums for 2010

16 Mar 2010

CIPSA Conferences are delighted to announce a new series of conferences – Special Interest Forums – to compliment the existing series of Strategic Procurement Forums. As their titles suggest, the Strategic Procurement Forums address broad procurement issues across the full spectrum of the professional agenda, while the new Special Interest Forums will provide in depth examinations of specific issues.

"While the Strategic Procurement Forums have been hugely successful for the last few years, we recognised that there were topics we were addressing in these forums that really required deeper examination", said Nigel Wardropper, Event Director for CIPSA Conferences. "Take for example Low Cost Country Sourcing. It is a subject that we have run numerous seminars or single sessions on, but when you really think about it, there are so many issues involved in the decison to pursue and successfully implement an LCCS strategy, and the reality is that there is no way they can all be covered in a one hour seminar. These forums will allow the procurement profession the opportunity to really get into the nitty gritty of these issues and get a far clearer picture of what they might hope to achieve, how they should do it and what they need to look out for."

In some ways the introduction of the Special Interest Forums programme is a throwback to the early years of CIPSA Conferences in 2006, when successful conferences were run on subjects such as Supply Market Intelligence and Performance Measurement.

Wardropper went on "we really see these events as complementing the Strategic Procurement Forum schedule that the profession have embraced so well for the last few years. They will allow us to go even further towards meeting the needs of the profession and we certainly intend to enter into dialogue as widely as possible to identify those issues that need greater in-depth examination."

At this stage CIPSA Conferences have only announced brief summaries for the 2010 Special Interest Forum schedule. Further details will be published over the next few weeks.
