CIPSA WA Regional Committee form relationship with Curtin University05 Jul 2011The CIPSA Western Australia Regional Committee has formed a sponsorship relationship with the Curtin University School of Information Systems to raise awareness of procurement career paths and forge business network connections to industry. Part of the initiative has involved including a student representative on the WA Regional Committee. Tracy Fleming, who is currently in the position, recently facilitated a student tour of the new state-of-the-art distribution centre for TNT Express. The facility is a leading example of investment in distribution and supply chain infrastructure in the southern hemisphere, having recently been developed at a cost of $40 million. Using European technology, including an impressive magnetic conveyor belt and RFID scanning, the new WA facility can distribute tens of thousands of consignments each day. During the tour, Norry Tan, State Sales Manager, and his team took the time to discuss graduate career development and provided an insight into TNT Express policies regarding Corporate Social Responsibility and Occupational Health and Safety. The CIPSA WA Regional committee hopes to arrange further events to engage and involve the student body in its activities. |
