Procurement risks on climate change identified by UK report02 Feb 2012Source: Purcon
Climate Change Risk Assessment noted events such as flooding and water availability among the potential risks to businesses, as evidenced recently in Thailand. Despite the obvious risks, only a minority of companies are taking action to mitigate the situation, according to the report, which was compiled by the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the UK Environment Agency and both the Scots and Welsh governments. "The vast majority of organisations have yet to recognise climate change as a material risk, and if they have recognised it may only be considered as a long-term, future risk with little relevance to today’s challenges," the report warns. |
