Australian Defence process 'profoundly dysfunctional': parliamentary inquiry

The Australian Department of Defence is full of hard-working people dedicated to delivering good procurement outcomes but who are hampered by a profoundly dysfunctional system, a parliamentary committee has heard.

Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) defence budget analyst Mark Thomson said on Friday reforms introduced during the past year were moving defence procurement in a positive direction and would produce incremental improvements.
