Australian Defence Department awards IT contracts worth $180m

The Australian Department of Defence has signed agreements worth a combined $180.3 million for two major IT reform programs.
 
Fujitsu will be responsible for the Department’s distributed computing central services (DCCS) while Dimension Data will supply terrestrial communications support (TCS). Telstra-owned Kaz, which was acquired by Fujitsu, was the lead partner for DCCS, which includes over 90,0000 desktops in the Department’s central ICT helpdesk.

Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Support Mike Kelly announced both wins. Under the Strategic Reform Program, Defence aims to rationalise the number of IT vendors it has on its books.
