Awarding of Defence contracts 'sloppy' but not fraudulent: inquiry

A Parliamentary inquiry has declared aspects of the tender process, when awarding contracts to transport Australian troops to and from the Middle East, ‘sloppy’ but not fraudulent.

"Defence was notably inattentive when it came to identifying and managing probity risks, especially conflicts of interest," the Senate’s foreign affairs defence and trade committee said in its report, tabled in the Senate.

"Thus a cloud of uncertainty lingers over the integrity of this tender."
