CIPSA in Auckland reflects on 2009

10 Dec 2009

The final CIPSA New Zealand event in Auckland for 2009 saw nearly 70 procurement people get together at the KPMG offices at the Viaduct for Christmas drinks and nibbles and an excellent presentation.  Following the success of last year’s presentation, Westpac Chief Economist Brendan O’Donovan returned for a follow-up on the current economic situation, looking at where things are now 12 months on.

In his now customary style Brendan opened by taking questions from the floor on diverse topics from whether gold is a sound investment to the state of economies in the US and UK.  Brendan gave his insight into the forecasted direction of the New Zealand economy over the next 12 months.

CIPS New Zealand Regional Chair Chris Morgan said, "it is crucial for procurement professionals to have a good an understanding of economic trends and market changes. That understanding enables them to provide strategic procurement leadership within their businesses to ensure economic opportunities are captured and risks are mitigated to support the delivery needs of stakeholders”.
