Suzanne Little wins CIPS Australasia Essay Competition

18 Oct 2010

At last week’s CIPS Australasia Procurement Professional Awards, Suzanne Little was presented with her prize for winning the CIPS Australasia 2010 Essay Competition.

The competition, run by CIPS (The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) Australia and co-sponsored by Curtin University and Rio Tinto, required entrants to submit a 1500 to 3000 word essay related to any aspect of the 2010 CIPSA Professional Agenda.

Suzanne’s winning essay was entitled The Price of Desire. In awarding a winner, the judges noted that as in past years, the choice was difficult due to a number of good essays being submitted. However, Suzanne’s essay contained… “some really interesting ideas and concepts, had an excellent analysis of the issues around price and cost in a forward looking, wide-ranging essay that should encourage procurement professionals to examine their motives for every buy decision”, noted head judge Professor Guy Callender.

The judges also commended Tom Russell’s essay, Yes but…

The prize of $2,500, was presented by head judge and CIPSA Foundation Professor Guy Callender.  Suzanne also won a trip to the 6th CIPSA Annual Conference in Melbourne, where the Procurement Professional Awards were presented at the conference dinner.
