Federal procurement policy a major concern: WTO

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) members have highlighted ‘Canberra’s procurement policy’ as one of three major concerns in its latest ‘check-up’ on Australia’s trade policy.

The WTO has published a report on Australia in preparation for its sixth trade policy consultation with Australia this week.

Unlike other countries – the US, the European Union, Japan and Canada – WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy said Australia did not take part in the multilateral agreement on government procurement, which China was considering joining.
