Liberian procurement chief shot dead

The man in charge of overseeing public procurement in Liberia has been murdered at his home, according to reports.

Keith Jubah, head of the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission, which helps fight corruption by scrutinising government spending, was killed on Sunday evening by a gang of men outside Liberia's capital Monrovia.

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said in a statement she was "deeply shocked and distressed" over the crime, thought to have been carried out by "disgruntled" former employees.
