Manufacturers miss opportunities in supply chain: survey

Manufacturers have overlooked the impact supply chain efficiencies can have on overall profitability, according to a recent study by DHL.

The Engineering & Manufacturing Supply Chain Survey 2011 (UK), published by Benchmark Research on behalf of DHL in the UK, found that just 54 per cent believe supply chain efficiencies can make a positive contribution to their business’ bottom line.

In addition, the report, which surveyed 120 senior supply chain managers, found that more than a fifth (22 per cent) believed the in-bound procurement and sourcing function at their company needed to be improved.
