Report shows manufacturing still an integral piece in economy jigsaw

A recent report has found that, contrary to popular belief, the manufacturing sector accounts for 8.7 per cent of ‘Gross Domestic Product’ (GDP), or $111 billion, in economic activity.

This increasing in growth was reported in the Manufacturing Futures, prepared by the Australian Business Foundation.

It found that the sector also continues to be an important contributor to jobs – employing almost 1 million people or 8.7 per cent of the workforce – and to exports, accounting for 36.1 per cent of total exports.
