March CPRS Conference postponed15 Dec 2009In light of the recent defeat of the Governments proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (or great big new tax – depending on your political view) and a great deal of uncertainty as to the future of the bill, the “What the CPRS means for Procurement” Conference scheduled for March has been postponed until later in the year.
Although it is now almost two weeks since the bill was defeated, the CIPSA Conferences organisers decided to wait until the outcome of the Copenhagen meetings became clearer before making a final decision. “With Cop15 looking increasingly unlikely to produce anything but a significant amount of hot air, and a new opposition leader in place in Australia who takes a different view on whole subject of Anthropogenic Global Warming and potential solutions, it is highly unlikely that we would be in a position to deliver a meaningful programme”, said Nigel Wardropper, Event Director for CIPSA Conferences. “We will of course continue to monitor the situation and assess the need for a conference on this subject matter later in the year.” |
