CIPS Accreditation: University of Canberra's MBA in Strategic Procurement

The University of Canberra’s MBA in Strategic Procurement is CIPS’ first accredited university programme in the ACT to MCIPS and the 10th across the region.

This is a significant accreditation as it marks the first programme to be developed under the National Procurement Professionalisation Forum’s (NPPF) efforts, a collaboration with industry partners.

University of Canberra is an honorary member of the Australian Technology Network (ATN) universities and this programme sets the benchmark in course content for the remaining five universities from the ATN pursuing CIPS accreditation.

Program Structure
The programme consists of 12 units, all of which are worth three credit points (apart from the Applied Research Project in Strategic Procurement which is worth six credit points).

Required Units (7 units x 3 credit points):
• Government and Corporate Contracting
• Project Management
• Accounting for Management
• Risk Management
• Sustainable Procurement
• Business Finance
• Strategic Management

On top of this, students must choose one pair of either of the following (2 x 3 credits):
• Organisational Behaviour And Organisational Performance OR
• Economics for Managers And International Business

Students must also complete Open Electives to a total value of nine credits.

Elective Conditions
The Open Electives must be EITHER:
• The 6 (six) credit point Applied Research Project in Strategic Procurement plus any other 3 credit point approved elective OR
• Any 3 x three credit point approved elective

Approved Elective means that the elective must be from one of the following Faculties:
• Business and Government
• Law
• Information Systems and Engineering


Documentary evidence supporting the above conditions must be provided to CIPS.
