Australia's milk supply chain drained by competitiveness

The supermarket milk price war is unsustainable and has taken $77 million out of the milk supply chain, a Senate committee has heard.
Supermarket chain Coles dropped the price of its homebrand milk by up to 33 per cent, to $1 a litre, on Australia Day. Woolworths and Aldi quickly followed.

The effects of the price war are being investigated by the Senate Economics References Committee, which sat in Melbourne today.
