CIPS appoint new CEO

The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) has appointed David Noble (FCIPS), as its new Chief Executive Officer following the recent decision of previous CEO, Simon Sperryn, to step down.


Previously on the Board of Management at CIPS, David resigned in May to take up his new post as CEO in June 2009 and offers the experience of 30 years’ of purchasing in the commercial sector.

David Noble has had a long and fruitful relationship with the Institute. He has been a member of CIPS since 1982 and a Fellow of the Institute since 1994. He has worked at board level for the last 10 years in purchasing and supply management, and more recently has been the Group Supply Chain Director at IMI plc, a FTSE 250 company.

Commenting on his new post, David Noble said: “I am delighted to be given this opportunity as I have always passionately believed in the role of the Institute, and I look forward to the challenges and excitement which will no doubt come from heading up this dynamic, growing and changing organisation. I believe strongly that in the current economic environment P&SM has a fundamental role and opportunity to fulfil in supporting our customers and their businesses. CIPS has grown to over 54,000 members and will continue to ensure its professional standards and education offerings are second to none. Both in the UK and internationally the Institute is uniquely placed to enhance the profession in all markets and environments.”

David Noble joins the Institute with immediate effect.
