NSW government appoints DSTA for data centre procurement

The NSW government has appointed the Department of Services Technology and Administration (DSTA) to procure a software package to support internal audit and corporate risk management for the state data centre reform program.

The data centre reform program assembles data centre infrastructure into purpose-built, high quality facilities capable of handling future technologies’ power and cooling requirements and satisfying the Government’s demand for data centre space.

The current focus is on acquiring capacity in two fit-for-purpose data centres. This encompasses operation and site management services as well as the provision and maintenance of data centre capacity.

DSTA is a government agency with a broad portfolio, including fair trading, government procurement, IT, public works and industrial relations. It was previously known as the Department of Commerce.

The agency requires an enterprise risk management package for five applications - risk management, audit, compliance, incident management and claims management. The modules must also integrate with each other.

Basic requirements include workflow management and reporting, the ability to complete tasks by e-mail or Web services, tailored reporting forms, a built-in report writer, and integration with SAP.

Risk management at the DSTA is performed at three levels: corporate, division and business unit objectives; major projects; and business as usual processes.
