NSW government procurement to favour Australian-made

Unions say a NSW government decision to favour Australian businesses is a victory for workers, but the Federal Government says it won't support any ban on Chinese-made goods.

Under a policy designed to protect jobs, all NSW government departments and agencies will now have to give preference to Australian-made products when buying uniforms, cars and even trains, the Daily Telegraph reports, labelling it a ban on "made in China' products.

The protectionist measure would apply to all goods and services not included under existing free trade agreements.
