NSW government calls on private sector for hospital procurement revamp

The NSW government has called on the private sector to help with the procurement operations of new hospitals for public patients as it embarks on its multibillion-dollar capital-spending programme.

The government has appointed Ernst & Young to conduct a ‘market sounding’ which will shape a competitive bid process for several new hospitals and upgrades.

The O’Farrell government has committed to a $4.7 billion health capital works programme over four years, including $921 million of capital spending in 2011-12.
