NSW set to overhaul the state's IT and communications procurement

NSW Finance and Services department is set to implement changes to the state’s complex IT and communications procurement framework.

The scheme, dubbed Procure IT, is hoped to cut red tape and reduce the cost of doing business in NSW. The project will now be overseen by NSW Finance and Services department director-general Michael Coutts-Trotter.

Coutts-Trotter held a meeting with the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) to discuss the future direction and strategy around Procure IT. Suzanne Campbell, chief executive Australian Information Industry Association said that if the government could procure services faster, industry could deliver outcomes more quickly.

"Then the savings are monstrous," she said.
