Phil Weir FCIPS to leave for Abu Dhabi

16 Nov 2010

Phil Weir FCIPS, has accepted the position of Senior Procurement Advisor to the Saudi ministry, based in Abu Dhabi from 12th December onwards. Phil will leave his current role as Manager of the New Zealand Government Procurement Development Group (GPDG) based in Wellington on 26th November to re-locate to Abu Dhabi.

Phil has been active with CIPS Australasia since its inception in early 2005 and has been personally instrumental in the development of the Institute’s contribution in New Zealand. He subsequently won the CIPS Leadership Award in 2006 for his work in developing the NZ procurement profession - not just for his work through CIPS but also for his work through developing NZ associate membership of the Australian Procurement & Construction Council [APCC].

He has also been a member of the CIPSA Steering Group since late 2006, and vice-chair for the last three years. Phil will now stand down from that position to leave for his new role in the Middle East – ironically where CIPS has just opened a new regional office to support the profession there. He has also been one of the PP Awards judges for CIPSA until this year when he stood down in preference to entering the Awards – only for MED to win three cataegories.

Phil  was elected to CIPS Fellowship in 2010 for his overall contribution to the profession over many years and he plans to remain actively involved in the CIPS global procurement community.
