Planning in the supply chain critical to success

Planning in the supply chain is a critical factor to achieving customer service at a low cost according to Tim Andreae, Senior Vice-President of Global Marketing at MCA Solutions. In a recent interview in Manufacturing Business Technology magazine he spoke about spare parts planning challenges and how smaller manufacturers are keeping pace with some of the larger competitors.
His company, MCA focuses entirely on the service supply chain, which is the aftermarket supply chain and according to Andreae, planning challenges are much different there than in production supply chain. MCA has just unveiled MCA Desktop Edition a new product that gives mid-tier organizations and business units at larger companies fast and affordable access to MCA’s robust spare parts planning solution. He also discussed the important of service as a trend that has continued to grow due mainly, he believes the increased recognition good service has received during the economic downturn. “ People get value from a product through its use and it’s through servicing it more effectively that people do that.”
