A pound wasted for every pound spent

The Scottish public sector “wastes a pound for every pound it spends on construction” due to antiquated procurement systems and supply chain management that lags behind European standards, according to the leader of the Specialist Engineering Contractors’ Group.

Professor Rudi Klein,  chief executive of the SEC Group, claims there are pockets of poor practice in Scotland that are worse than the rest of the UK. “We currently procure construction in the same way as have been doing for about 150 years. We haven’t significantly changed the way we do it.”
