Joint approach of CIPSA & DMO to benefit procurement profession

CIPSA and DMO signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday, 16th August committing both organizations to a common professionalisation strategy for the procurement profession.The memorandum was signed between Defence Material Organisation (DMO) and CIPS Australia (CIPSA) by Harry Dunstall, General Manager Commercial, Senior Executive Officer on behalf of DMO and Jonathan Dutton, Managing Director of CIPSA.
The MOU recorded the parties’ joint approach to expanding a cooperative relationship towards the continuous professional development of DMO procurement and contracting personnel.

The joint approach encompasses five key strategies including the promotion of procurement and contracting as a profession, the opportunity for DMO professionals to become certified against CIPS global standards, the establishment of CIPS as the professional body and for procurement at DMO and the further development of certified members within DMO, accreditation of existing or proposed DMO education programs at undergraduate or postgraduate level and procurement and contracting training for DMO personnel. Jonathan Dutton said “The institute is delighted to be part of the DMO strategic agenda for the development of the procurement and contracting profession.
