Procurement laws violated in seeking bids to fix US federal building29 Nov 2010Source: Associated Press An internal review has concluded that the General Services Administration violated procurement laws while seeking bids for the renovation of a federal building in the state of Virginia. The agency's inspector general said in a recently released report that the GSA guaranteed potential contractors a fixed $39 million price for part of the renovations. The price guarantee violated the Competition in Contracting Act. According to the report, the GSA also failed to obtain an independent government estimate for the cost of construction in violation of another law. The GSA acknowledged in a response to the report that construction services were awarded without adequate price competition. Read more here |
