Register for Foodbank Queensland site visit

28 Jul 2009

This Foodbank site visit is a follow up to the very successful and informative Logistics Lounge in May when General Manager of Foodbank Queensland Ken McMillan and two Pastors delivered an emotional and eye-opening outline of the need in our community and the work and dedicated assistance provided by charities.

Ken will provide an informal presentation on the work of Foodbank. Prior to his six years with Foodbank Queensland, Ken had 30 years experience in sales, marketing and logistics roles within the Australian food industry.

In his time at Foodbank, Ken has seen food donations increase from 1 million kilos per annum to 8 million kilos per annum.  This incredible growth has meant significant changes in the way the charity redistributes food to the needy.  Ken will talk about the 300 hunger relief organisations that access Foodbank, in particular the various school breakfast programs they are associated with.  He will be joined by representatives of some of the many charities who distribute the food to the needy, who will tell stories of their work.

Attendees will also be able to view a recent segment from the ABC Landline programme and inspect the warehouse facilities that are the cornerstone of the Foodbank’s work.

When:  Friday the 24th of July OR  Friday the 31st of July at 9.45am
