Procurement of regional development fund running 'two months late'

The procurement of the federal government’s $1 billion regional development fund is running two months late, as applications are still being processed.

Up to $100 million under the Regional Development Fund was meant to have started flowing from July, however applications are still being assessed by the fund’s independent panel.

A spokesman from Regional Australia Minister Simon Crean's office on Tuesday confirmed the timetable was being stretched.
