Will good Supplier Relationship Management fall victim to the current recession?

Last month Supply Management organised a roundtable discussion on how the current recession will affect supplier relationship management and nine senior buyers gave their views.

Chief among these was that the need to carry out checks on suppliers' ability to operate is now more important than ever. However, the boot is also on the other foot and suppliers are increasing their investigation into buyers' ability to pay.

Aside from individuals' opinions, broader surveys reveal many companies don't really manage their contracts at all. A poll of Supply Management readers revealed 36 per cent of companies have no formal process for managing supplier contracts.
