Brewing giant sees value of procurement

One of the world’s leading brewers, SABMiller, is increasingly turning to procurement to help it improve efficiencies and drive value across the business.

The company, which owns the Peroni, Grolsch and Miller brands and is dual listed in London and Johannesburg, embarked on its business capability programme with the aim of streamlining activities in finance, human resources and procurement through the deployment of global systems and the introduction of common sales, distribution and supply chain management systems.

In the first half of the year, costs of $US115m were incurred, although the company also recorded, "cumulative net operating benefits worth $US60m in the first six months of the year," the company said.
