South Australian Committee Christmas Event

On 23 November 2010, the CIPSA SA/NT Committee together with key sponsor, Purchasing Index, welcomed more than 60 procurement professionals to the Light Hotel in Adelaide for the end of year event on Category Management. The event provided attendees with advice on how to expand their procurement ‘tool box’ and how this can be used to drive category management excellence.


Bojan Pajic, Director, Purchasing Index informed attendees about the importance of data mining and the various sources of useful information that can be found in any organisation. Purchasing Index also detailed the importance of management dashboards to deliver the procurement message to the organisation.

Matthew Perfect, Principal Consultant with The Faculty spoke about the evolution of category management and focused on five key tips for enabling great category management in organisations:

1. Communicate your Category’s value
2. Optimise your Category Portfolio
3. Drive Category Utilisation
4. Cultivate a Market Intelligence Network
5. Create Value and Minimise Risk

Networking afterwards addressed a range of topics, including the learnings from the event, and continued for almost two further hours.

The CIPSA SA/NT Regional Committee thanks members and event attendees for their support throughout 2010 and looks forward to encouraging further networking opportunities in 2011.
