SA government order procurement probe into Aboriginal Affairs spending

The South Australian government has launched an inquiry into procurement practices following the suspension of an Aboriginal Affairs bureaucrat over the expenditure of $80,000 on printer cartridges.

SA Premier Mike Rann said yesterday that, while it would not be appropriate for him to order the Auditor-General to widen his inquiry beyond the troubled Aboriginal Affairs division, he had asked for an "urgent review of procurement practices" across all government departments.
