QLD event: Climate Change for S&L06 Oct 2009The Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia is hosting a Logistics Lounge focused on the implications of climate change on Friday 23rd October at the Queensland Cricketers’ Club.
The climate change train has arrived in the form of a raft of legislation at State and National levels with a dash of international change left, right and centre. This legislation will affect any business with an energy bill over $250,000 by 2015 through the implementation of energy savings programs and - if the carbon pollution reduction scheme is passed - each and every Australian. As with most new programs the devil is in the detail and our political system is doing its best to muddy the waters and our understanding. Understanding the drivers is a key for Supply Chain & Logistics professionals and practitioners to make a difference in climate change mitigation. Supply Chain Managers will play a pivotal role in a company’s response to this new carbon dynamic. You will need to understand the cost of carbon embedded in your Supply Chain, and have the ability to change your company’s practices in all areas to bring about reduction. This Logistics Lounge will focus on demystifying - clearing the waters for many professionals and practitioners as an important first step. |
