Scottish procurement reform will save £200 million by 201422 Nov 2010Source: Public Sector Travel John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth in the Scottish Government, says that procurement reform has delivered more than £800 million in savings since 2006-07, including £312 million in 2009-10 alone. Swinney says savings are sustainable and that “Scottish Government-led procurement activity will deliver savings of at least £200 million over the next three years, of which £61 million will be delivered in 2011-12”. Swinney’s comments came as Scotland unveiled its draft Budget for 2011-12 Swinney said: “With a continued emphasis on procurement reform, as well as a recognition of the importance of procurement as key strategic enabler of service design and service delivery, and continued investment in maintaining adequate procurement capability, significant additional savings should be possible.” Read more here |
