This year's judging panel has whittled the record number of entries down to a few potential winners in each of the 11 team and two individual categories.

Wincanton leads the way with a total of five nominations followed by HSBC Bank and NHS re:source which each have four. And AstraZeneca and BAE Systems both make three appearances on the shortlist.

The fiercest competition is in the 'best purchaser-supplier collaboration category' which has a total of eight nominees, and there are seven nominees in a further three categories - showing once again the depth and quality of entries in the awards.

This year's judging panel is led by CIPS vice-president Shirley Cooper, procurement & supply chain director at Computacenter (UK). Other judges include Andy Collopy, procurement director at BP, Belinda Prince, procurement director at Cancer Research, and Guy Bruce, now an interim, previously commercial director at last year's overall winner Homeserve.

The awards, held once again in association with Ariba, are held in London on 9 September.
