Singapore to tighten supply chain security

Singapore is set to improve its supply chain security and align its practices with other countries, with all exports leaving the country having to be declared in advance of being shipped.

The Advance Export Declaration (AED), which will be launched on April 1st 2013, will see cargo information sent to customs officials prior to departure in order for them to conduct a proper risk assessment before being shipped.

Currently, only controlled goods require advance declarations, while uncontrolled goods have to be declared within three days of the goods leaving.
