Sky News complaint over ABC tender 'lobbying'

Sky News has lodged a formal complaint with the Department of Foreign Affairs over ABC chief Mark Scott’s alleged lobbying of a senior cabinet minister in the fiercely contested contract to run Australia Network.

A Foreign Affairs spokeswoman yesterday declined to be drawn on any investigation into the Sky News complaints, stating only that the tender was being conducted in accordance with the Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines.

Under tender guidelines the department must respond to the Sky News complaint, with the Australian government solicitor charged to guarantee probity of the process.
