Supply Management magazine goes monthly

24 Jan 2011

Supply Management magazine is set to undergo change to become a monthly title rather than fortnightly, a decision made jointly between CIPS and Redactive, the contract publisher.

Whilst the commitment to provide readers supply in print and online the best news, features, opinion legal coverage and jobs available, SM has continued to change to reflect trends across not only the profession but also across publishing and recruitment.

The magazine, which will be received in the new format in mid-March, will be more substantial with more pages focusing on the things that readers say they value most. This will include more features, a news digest and an enhanced law section.

SM will continue to publish UK and international job vacancies and allied to this will be the continued development of supplymanagement.com, with many jobs now sought and found online. This reflects the enormous reduction in the number of UK vacancies in the pages of SM over the past year.

These developments highlight the progress of procurement and supply chain management information flow which started off for SM in 1996. Back then, the magazine was determined by two mainstay factors, notably the ability to provide news to the profession and to capitalise on the recruitment market within the profession.

This was followed by the launch of a daily UK newsletter service in September 2009 and its popularity was a testament to the profession’s desire to receive the news online and more frequently. Indeed, the growth to the website also indicates the shift in trends to reading news online, with visitor growth to the site up 60 per cent year on year.

All these changes are a necessity in order to keep pace with the developments in the profession and publishing. However, some fundamental things will remain unchanged. Mainly, SM’s commitment to readers to supply in print and online the highest quality procurement news, comment, opinion and jobs available anywhere in the world.  CIPS Australia members get the online version of SM.

The CIPS Australia print and online magazine, Procurement Professional, remains unchanged and can be accessed online at www.pponline.com.au.
