QLD event summary: Suncorp's journey to CIPS Certification

More than 80 procurement professionals gathered for a lunchtime event at Suncorp in Queensland on 10th February for a presentation about how the organisation's Group Strategic Sourcing Division achieved CIPS Organisational Certification.

 
Rob Howe, Executive General Manager of Group Strategic Sourcing, and Stephen Sherwood MCIPS, Executive Manager Business Partnership and Delivery, hosted a forum discussing the evolution of the division from its creation in 2004 to achievement of CIPS Certification in 2009.

The Group Strategic Sourcing Division at Suncorp has gone from a de-centralised to a centralised team model, with greatly improved identity, culture and procurement methodologies. This has lead to a higher profile within the organisation and total cost savings.

CIPS Organisational Certification is an international benchmark of excellence in organizational procurement policy, practice and procedures, which engenders a culture of continuous improvement that delivers bottom line saving year on year.
