Australian companies will commence a 7-week long battle commencing 14 March to find out who has Australia’s best supply chain team.
‘The Fresh Connection’ challenge will require participants to initiate change, manage volatility, analyse risks, identify opportunities, balance trade-offs, and maximise the end-to-end supply chain performance of The Fresh Connection company.
By participating teams will gain knowledge of the benefits of effective cross-functional communication, the importance of integrated decision making processes, how to put strategy into action, and how to best balance priorities in order to achieve optimal business outcomes.
So, what exactly is The Fresh Connection?
• A cross-functional business simulation that addresses contemporary supply chain issues and business strategy.
• Simulates real life issues and cross functional tensions that arise from conflicting KPI’s and trade-offs.
• Demonstrates how profitability can be improved by removing the functional silo mentality and optimising the end-to-end supply chain.
How it works
• 7 weeks of sophisticated learning to find the nation’s leading supply chain team
• No. of people per team: 4 (representatives from purchasing, sales, supply chain, and operations).
• Time required per week/round: between 1 and 2 hours.
• Start date: 14 March 2011.
The challenge
Teams will be challenged to negotiate the best contracts with suppliers, minimise inventory investment, balance risks with opportunity, manage customer relationships, and implement the best supply chain strategy to save The Fresh Connection company. Previously profitable, The Fresh Connection company, due to poor supply chain strategic and tactical decisions, is on the brink of financial ruin and in desperate need of a complete transformation of its supply chain.
The prize
The winning team will enjoy the prestige of being recognised as Australia’s best supply chain team and a trip to Italy to represent Australia in The Fresh Connection Global Final.
Entry fee: $1, 750 per team of 4 (excluding GST).
