Attracting top supply chain talent pays off

Companies with the best supply chains attract the top talent, a study from AMR Research has found.

The ‘right’ people, however, are in short supply. Chief strategy officer Kevin O'Marah described supply chain talent as "a hot button issue" in a webcast following the release of the AMR's annual Supply Chain Top 25.

The study identifies Fortune Global 500 companies that have supply chains designed to ‘serve customers with operational and innovation excellence’. Electronics firm Apple headed the list for the second consecutive year.

"Most folks are having a hard time getting enough of the right talent," he said. "Leaders are the ones who know how to attract and cultivate the types of skills that allow someone to be a value-chain type of thinker."
